Texas Alpha (chartered 1968)
University of Corpus Christi - Corpus Christi, TX
Status: Alumni
Texas Alpha Chapter was chartered December 14,1968 after an intense battle with the college's dean of students, Homer Hanna. It was the first national fraternity chartered at UCC. Following our lead, Tau Kappa Epsilon and Sigma Pi and Tau Delta Phi established chapters.
Many of the charter members were transfers from N.Y. Eta Chapter. Those included Gary Cotter, Charles Schulze, Paul Simone, Michael Selzer, Patrick Diamond, Carl DiForio. Other charter members included Ronald Howard, Charles Doraine, Torrence Burrowes, Steven Vermilye (dec'd), Billy Montgomery, Marc Jean Boulle, Hubert Cox, Bob Sarnataro, Buzz Barron and Roger Saleh.
The chapter continued to gain members from NY Eta as brothers transferred from Westchester CC to UCC. The university went through several changes of control and name and the active chapter faded from existence in the transition. Concentrations of brothers live in the New York metro area as well as throughout Texas and elsewhere.
