New York Kappa (chartered colony)
SUNY Brockport - Brockport, NY
Status: Alumni
New York Kappa was a colony started by Brian O'Rourke in the fall of 1994. The pledge class consisted of Allen Gene Wood, William Lutomski, and Todd Wagner. Due to their being only one active KSK brother on campus, Brian asked and received help from the brothers at Kent State(Ohio Eta), and the Penn Alpha alumni (many of whom had been regrouping at Temple University, Philadelphia-PA, after the closure of their own chapter). All three pledges had survived Penn Alpha's rigorous pledge program and were welcomed by all as new brothers.
During the spring of 1994, Brian was in the process of trying to get New York Kappa a charter on SUNY Brockport's campus. In the meantime, had found a new pledge named Christopher Benson. Since we only had one pledge while Kent State had three, it was decided to combine the two pledge classes and operate as one. Again, with the help of KSK Alumni from multiple chapters, two of the pledges progressed forward to become brothers and our Chris Benson was one of them.
Unfortunately, our efforts were in vain. We were unsuccessful in getting a charter at SUNY Brockport. We decided to try running 'underground' as many former KSK chapters were successful at doing; however, time was not on our side. All actives graduated out before we could put another pledge class through...
Today, we are survived by active participation in helping the National KSK Alumni Association progress forward. Our own William Lutomski has been playing an active role, and, has been helping the brothers at Alfred (KSE) with their own Fraternity related events.
