Pi Chapter (chartered 1937)
Lebanon Valley College - Annville, PA
Status: Active
Pi Chapter was chartered in 1937 at Lebanon Valley College, located in Annville, Pennsylvania. During those early days of Kappa Sigma Kappa's reorganization in the mid 1930's, details on the founding of Pi Chapter have been scarce. The earliest records in KSK's national archives reflect a 1937 founding date. The earliest known records on Lebanon Valley College's campus show Pi Chapter was active on campus during the early 1940's.
At the close of World War II, many small town colleges were having issues with National organizations operating on their campuses. Pi Chapter as well as other chapters in KSK's roster were faced with termination of the chapter by college administration. In approximately 1947, Pi Chapter was forced to leave KSK National where the active brothers at that time decided to take the chapter underground and have since survived under the name 'Knights of the Valley.'
Knights of the Valley (KOV) has thrived on campus since the late 1940's and have always maintained the true traditions of the old Kappa Sigma Kappa. The KSK letters were incorporated into KOV's coat of arms and incoming pledges had been educated in Kappa Sigma Kappa's history. During the early 1980's, Lebanon Valley College started to allow Fraternities back on campus. The decision was made, the actives of KOV elected to resurface their Kappa Sigma Kappa past.
At times during the early 1980s, and especially from 1989 through 1992, Pi chapter and the late Penn Alpha's enjoyed many visits between campuses. Today, Pi Chapter is the oldest known chapter of KSK to be active on a college campus.
