WHO
WE ARE
Kappa
Sigma Kappa Fraternity was founded in 1867 at the Virginia Military
Institute. Through a reorganization during the mid 1930's, the
fraternity rapidly expanded into the 1950's with chapters spanning
5 continents (United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and
Great Britain).
In
1962, some of the fraternity's more prominent chapters (21 in
total) were allowed to merge into Theta Xi. A move that allowed
these chapters to explore the luxuries of a larger National fraternity.
Luxuries that could not be afforded by Kappa Sigma Kappa's meager
dues structure.
The
remaining Kappa Sigma Kappa chapters (9 in total) continued.
Today,
the fraternity is survived by a formal National Alumni Association
with active chapters surviving at various college campuses in
the Northeast. In addition, the fraternity maintains a strong
alumni presence of active alumni groups in locations where their
chapter once prospered.
